1. Definition ( Definisi)
The text that tells you about how something looks, sound, and taste. It mostly about the visual experience but you can also find the descriptive text in the other perception.
The other definition : text that tells about the real object description, so that the reader can feel what the writer see, touch, and smell.
We can describe so many things like place, things, human, film and other things in this world.
2. Purpose or social function ( Tujuan)
To describe something spesificly .
3. Generic structure ( Susunan Umum)
a. Identification (Identifikasi).
- Contains an introduction about something that you want to describe.
( The red word is the description about the place).
b. Description
- Contains the description of the object. It tells you about the location, the most beautiful place, the famous landmark, the citizens.
( The red word is the location and the interesting things in Geology Museum).
4. Language Features
Descriptive text usually uses be and have.
Tense which is often used is Simple Present Tense. However, sometimes it uses Past tense if the thing to be described doesn't exist anymore.
The formula of present tense
Positive : S + V1 (s/es)
Negative : S + DO/DOES + NOT + V1
Question : DO/DOES + S + V1
Positive : S + be + adj/adv
Negative : S + be + NOT + adj/adv
Question : be + S + adj/adv
Actually descriptive text and report text is similar. But they have some differences. Do you want to know? ^-^
- Descriptive text contains a specific information about the object that you want to describe. But report text contains a general information that you want to report.

2. Descriptive text is produced by your own or the writer's senses and experience .
But report text is produced by some research first.
